LAKE FOREST, Calif. — Portfolio has released “How to Sell F&I in the Service Drive,” a new infographic available as a free download at the F&I products and reinsurance provider’s website. The two-page guide starts with a simple five-step process for designing and selling from a simplified “service menu,” including product selection, training and pay plan design.

The second page offers more detail, including a list of suitable products — led by service contracts, prepaid maintenance and appearance protection — and instructions for connecting fixed ops and F&I based on the dealer’s preferred method for contracting.

Portfolio’s senior vice president and chief revenue officer, Mark Barnes, said the infographic was designed in response to the immediate needs of dealers with little to no showroom traffic amidst social distancing orders intended to slow the spread of the novel coronavirus.

“Dealers have kept their service departments open to make sure our residents driving for essential business and taking care of their families’ needs can continue to do so,” Barnes said. “With many Americans unable to purchase new vehicles right now, taking care of their existing, and very necessary, automobile, is paramount. No customer should be denied the opportunity to protect themselves from undue financial duress just because they entered through the service drive instead of the showroom.”
